Ross Police honor guard making presentation at Reds game

ROSS TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - The Ross Township police department will have a front and center role at the Reds vs. Cubs on Sunday. May 26.

The Ross Township Police Department Honor Guard will present the Colors at the Great American Ball Park at the 1:10pm game.

Chief Kramer said “We Started an Honor Guard a Couple of Years ago and I think it’s an Honor to be selected especially during the Memorial Day Weekend”.

The Color Guard will take the field at 12:57pm for the presentation of the colors.

Vacant building damaged in Hamilton fire

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19)- A vacant Hamilton building is damaged by fire.

At 10:15 p.m. on Monday, crews were called to a fire at 529 Ludlow Street on Hamilton's East side.

When they arrived, crews found that one room on the second floor was on fire.

Crews were able to get inside and get the fire out quickly.

There were no injuries, and damage
is estimated at $7,500.00.

The fire is under investigation.

MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19)- A bystander is in hot water after a late night crash in Middletown.

Police say they were called to Verity Parkway to investigate a head on crash,

An investigation revealed that a car driven by Daniel Guy Rich of Dallas, Texas had lost control and hit a PT Cruiser head on.

A 17-year-old female was ejected from the PT Cruiser. She was transported to Atrium Medical Center and later transferred to Dayton Children's Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the PT Cruiser, an unnamed male, had to be cut from the car and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

A 4-month-old baby and another passenger in the PT Cruiser were taken to the hospital as well. The baby has been released.

6 indicted in local heroin trafficking conspiracy

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)- Six people were indicted in a heroin trafficking conspiracy, including four Middletown residents.

Authorities say the following have been arrested and charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute heroin:

 

  • Starling Groves Jr, 43, Dayton
  • Darnell Jack South III, aka "Jack Black", 38, Middletown
  • Eric Redding, aka "Eric Page", 41, Middletown
  • Cheltzy Redding, 28, Middletown
  • Adam Gardner, 27, Middletown
  • Thomas Payne, aka "Tommy", 49, Lebanon

 

An investigation began in August 2012 when Middletown Police contacted the FBI after noticing a significant increase in heroin-related criminal activity in and around Middletown.

Groves, South and Eric
Redding were charged with distributing more than 100 grams of heroin, a crime punishable by
at least five years and up to 40 years in prison.

2 suspicious fires investigated in Hamilton

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19)- Hamilton firefighters responded to two structure
fires overnight.

The first fire was at 9:18 p.m. in the 900 block of S. 12th Street at a two-story vacant home. First in crew found smoke coming from structure. Crew gained entry
through unlocked front door and quickly extinguished the fire.

Crews were on
the scene less than one hour. No injuries were reported to firefighters or
civilians. 

At 2:15 a.m., crews responded to a fully involved structure
fire in the 200 block of East Ave. on the city's East side. This fire was extinguished from the outside. Crews were on scene for three ours, no injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported. Damage is estimated at $40,000 and the structure is being called a total loss.

Both fires are being investigated by the City of Hamilton
Fire Marshal.

Grenade wielding man robs Hamilton bank

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19)- Hamilton Police are looking for a suspect who robbed a bank Wednesday morning.

At 10:14 a.m. the Hamilton Police Communications Center received a call from the First Financial Bank at 970 Main Street, reporting that a robbery had just occurred. 

Upon arrival, officers were advised by bank employees that a person had entered the bank, displayed a grenade and demanded bank.

Bank employees described the suspect as a white male, about 6 feet tall and 180 lbs.  The suspect was wearing a black hoody type sweatshirt, a yellow t-shirt and blue jeans.  He was also wearing a hat of some sort. 

At this time the robbery remains under investigation, and no further information is available.
