Black Walnut Weekend is a two day event where families can learn about Ohio's most popular native nut. Great Parks of Hamilton County kicks off the 10th anniversary of Black Walnut Weekend at noon on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12-13, at Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve in Colerain Township, 3455 Poole Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45215. The event closes each day at 4 p.m.
Bring your own fiber article to dye in a walnut bath, crack walnuts to reach the oily, bittersweet and nutritious kernel inside or enjoy many other fun activities at the park. Local band Jake Speed & The Freddies will get the party started with live music from 12:30-3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13.
This free event is open to the public, a valid Great Parks of Hamilton County Motor Vehicle Permit ($10 annual; $3 daily) is required to enter the park.
