HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - Hamilton natives The Zapp Band are set to headline the annual Honor and Remember concert.

This free concert is being held at the New RiversEdge Park and Amphitheater in Hamilton on Friday, August 9.

The Zapp Band feature The Troutman Brothers from Hamilton, Ohio. The nucleus of Zapp circled around three of the five Troutman brothers: Lester, Larry and their younger brother Roger. The duo of Lester and Roger started several groups including Little Roger and the Vels. Larry eventually joined his brothers when their name became Roger and the Human Body, which also included youngest brother Terry and Gregory Jackson [Cincinnati Ohio Funk Keyboardist].

The two day event offers great food and music for people to come together to honor the lives and sacrifices made by  the almost 70,000 Ohioans that have given their  lives for our freedom since Ohio became a state in 1803.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The first of a three game series will be a tribute to Middletown natives.The Reds game on Monday, May 6 is Middletown night.

Middletown, Ohio natives Chris Carter and Kayla Harrison will be honored during the annual Middletown Night at the ballpark. Carter, who is a 2013 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, will throw out a ceremonial first pitch.

Harrison, the 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist in judo, will serve as the Honorary Captain of the game.

Enrollment goal surpassed for fall semester at Miami University

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - Miami University has supassed their enrollment goal for students who plan on attending in the fall.

A record number of students had applied for fall 2013 admission. More than 22,500 students applied which is up nearly 11 percent from the previous year. As of the May 1 confirmation deadline, the number of first-year students confirming their enrollment to Miami surpassed the university’s goal of 3,600. Currently, 3,752 students are committed to attending Miami in the fall.

The academic qualifications and diversity of the admitted student pool increased, making this year one of the most selective for first-year admission to Miami. Students accepted to Miami scored highly on standardized tests: 32.3 percent scored 30 or above on the ACT. On the SAT (Critical Reading + Math), 32.5 percent scored 1300 and above.

City of Hamilton seeking input for East High Street Gateway Project

City of Hamilton seeking input for East High Street Gateway Project

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - The City of Hamilton is currently developing construction drawings for the East High Gateway street-scape project.  This project was initiated by the City of Hamilton to relieve traffic congestion, improve safety, enhance the entrance into the City and to promote economic development.

To make the project a success for our City, we are soliciting input from property owners, stakeholders and the general public to guide the decision making process.

Residents are invited to attend a Public Information meeting scheduled for Monday, May 13, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Council Chambers located on the first floor of the Hamilton Municipal Building, 345 High Street.  The meeting will include a brief presentation followed with an open forum for questions and comments.

Public officials and engineering consultants will be available to answer questions.  Comment sheets and exhibits will also be available at the meeting.
