The inductees have lived lives full of accomplishments and service, and exemplify the state’s theme for Older Americans Month: “never too old to…”

“The individuals we are recognizing each have made a significant impact and lasting difference in the lives of their communities,” said Bonnie Kantor-Burman, director of the department. “We honor them for both their civic engagement and the many contributions they have made to promoting quality of life for others thought our great state.”

NEW INFO: Foot found on bank of river

MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (AP)- We have an update on the dismembered foot that was found on the banks of the Middletown river.

Middletown police say two men were fishing in the Great Miami River Monday afternoon when they noticed what appeared to be a human foot on the east bank of the river, about 200 or 300 yards off a bike path.

The Montgomery County Coroner's Office tells FOX19 they have determined that the foot belonged to a white male.

They are also telling us that it was a left foot.

Investigators are looking into a possible connection with a Miamisburg train suicide three weeks ago.

The office says they won't know the identity until the DNA test come back; that may take several days.

State auditor places Monroe Local Schools in fiscal emergency

State auditor places Monroe Local Schools in fiscal emergency

COLUMBUS (FOX19) – Ohio Auditor Dave Yost says failure to present an acceptable financial recovery plan by the Monroe Local School District prompted him to place the district in a state of fiscal emergency Wednesday.

The district is following in the footsteps of the Little Miami Local Schools in that regard.  Little Miami was put under state control after voters there failed every operating levy for years.  A levy passed last year and that district is working toward regaining local control.

“The Monroe Local Schools will have some difficult decisions to make in the coming weeks and months,” Auditor Yost said in a release.  “My office stands ready to assist wherever we can to bring financial stability back to the district.”

Cincy water gets a clean bill of health

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)- Greater Cincinnati Water Works' (GCWW) 2011 Water Quality Report shows its water met or exceeded every health standard developed by both the USEPA and Ohio EPA.

On average, GCWW treats about 133 million gallons of water a day and conducts about 600 tests daily throughout the water treatment process.

The utility draws its source water from the Ohio River and the Great Miami Aquifer near Fairfield.

GCWW is in the process of constructing an ultraviolet disinfection (UV) treatment facility to further enhance water quality and protect against potential micro-organisms like cryptosporidium.

UV disinfection, which does not use chemicals or produce regulated disinfection by-products, will be used following sand filtration and granular activated carbon adsorption during GCWW's water treatment process.
